Jonathan Leach's 2005 Modified Pony
I have always enjoyed the old 60’s Mustangs for as long as I can remember, and I’ve wanted to own a 1965 Mustang Fastback for a long time, when Ford redesigned the new Mustang for 2005 and I immediately fell in love with the new body style. I had begun to see more and more of the new Stangs out on the roads and my desire to own one was becoming greater. The reliability of my old truck was also becoming questionable so a new car seemed like a good idea. I had a steady job for a few years and a raise made the dream of owning a new Mustang more feasible. In April 2006 I began to look at prices online at some of the local dealerships in the area and I found a few prospects. The car that caught my eye was a black 2005 Mustang Coupe with tinted windows. On Saturday April 14th 2006 I decided to go down to a dealership in downtown Oklahoma City took for the black Pony I had seen online. I wondered the parking lot looking for the black car but was unsuccessful. Then I saw it…..a beautiful 2005 Redfire Metalic Mustang Coupe, a demo car with 18k miles and a 4.0L V6 engine and I said to myself, “That’s the one.” I then located the salesperson, took the Stang for a test drive around downtown and then after 2 hours and a few dozen “sign here” and “initial here” I was driving the Mustang home.

A few months later I went to the Liberty Fest car show in Edmond and it was there that I discovered the Oklahoma Mustang Club, so I found the website and I submitted my application and eagerly awaited my membership. In mid July I took the Mustang on it’s first long road trip to the Gulf Coast and had a great time. When I returned I began looking in magazines and at websites at all the cool upgrades and extras I could get for my Stang. The first toys I had to purchase were the tail light sequencer modules, I then changed out the stock grill with a “Pony Package” grill and driving lights to give it an even more classic look. With tax return season creeping up and the National show around the corner, I see more performance and appearance upgrades happening in the near future.
