Rogers Lost Mustang Comes Back To Him
This story starts approximately thirty years ago at the age of 17 years old. Roger Cloud bought 1966 Mustang Springtime yellow. It was loaded with all the options of 289 two barrel, pony interior, power steering, factory air conditioning and wire hub caps. This was his dream to own this mustang. Excited about the car he slipped out of his house at a late hour one night, with out his parents knowing. He pick up his girlfriend and some friends and went cruising in this dream car. The cruise turned into Roger wrecking this beauty into a ditch and into porch of a family friends house. Needless to say the car was twisted and totaled from damage. His brother Steve removed the 289 and automatic transmission and installed them a 65 Fairlane two door post. This car was traded for another car afterwards.
Rogers love for Mustangs still raved on in his mind. He owned a few Mustangs like a 1967 coupe and a 1972 Mustang coupe after his dream car was wrecked. Then in 1982 he bought a new G.T. hatchback 5.0. He drove this car 175,000 miles and gave it to his brother Steve in 1998 for him to restore.
His brother Steve bought a 1966 Mustang for a parts car in May of 2001. It was Spingtime Yellow, 289 two barrel, Pony Interior, and standard three speed Transmission. Roger was asked by Steve to do some welding on this car for resale. Once Roger seen this car he had a flash back thirty years ago. He said “ I really would like to have that car to restore, would you help me restore it”? I could see his in his eyes that this was going to be the resurrection of the car he totaled thirty years ago. I told him I would sell it to him for what I had in it and help him restore it. To make the car close to what his dream car was, we bought a parts car to add the same options he had with his dream car that he totaled thirty years ago. This restoration started a year and half ago and we are in the final stages of restoration. This vehicle will show in 2003.
Here are some pictures from start to present, I hope you enjoy them.
