1997 Mustang SVT Cobra

Just over two years ago I was deep into restoring a 1986 5.0 GT convertible. But no matter what I did to it, it was still a convertible with an automatic tranny and I wanted a coupe with a 5-speed. After much negotiation with the wife, I convinced her I would be saving us money to not paint the GT, sell it, and buy a 97 or 98 Cobra coupe. Well fortunately she fell for it. As "fate" would have it, about a month before I was to drive the 86 GT to Nashville with Mustangs Across America, an interested party from Alabama called me about the ad I had placed on Autotrader.com. We agreed on a price and three weeks later he met me in Nashville to drive his new car home. I immediately began the search for a 97 Rio Red or 98 Atlantic Blue or Chrome Yellow Cobra coupe. Within two weeks I found my Slobra, as Rob likes to call it, in El Dorado, KS. A week later the family and I made a two and a half hour trip up to Kansas to drive my new baby home. She was bone stock to the paper filter in the airbox and only had 46,000 miles for an 8 year old car. I was estatic! I soon was faced with a very daunting decision...leave her stock for collectibility, or let the modding begin? Well the rest is history and yes she gets raced alot. After all, isn't that why Ford created the Special Vehicle Team? These ponies aren't meant to be polished and looked at, they're meant to be rode and rode hard!!!
1997 Mustang SVT Cobra purchased in April 2004 from a dealer in Eldorado, KS with 46,630 miles. Current modifications are a Magnaflow catback exhaust, a Densecharger cold air induction kit, & Hawk brake pads. This is one of 811 Rio Red with tan leather Cobra coupes made in 1997.
